Jay Weber named to Fort Wright City Council, effective now, replaces Mike Hoerlein who resigned

Fort Wright City Council met recently with eleven (11) potential candidates for an opening on the council.

Everyone who expressed interest, after a call for applicants, was interviewed and the selection group said they were uniquely qualified with very impressive and diverse backgrounds and skills.

After much discussion and consideration, the City Council elected to appoint long-time resident Jay Weber to fulfill the unexpired term of office that resulted from the resignation of former Councilman Mike Hoerlein.

Weber attended the Fisher School of Business at Ohio University and earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Administration/Administrative Finance. He has held professional positions with Fifth Third Bank and ultimately retired as Vice President and Executive Vice President of Batesville Products, Inc., and aluminum foundry and manufacturing company.

During his career, Weber also served on a variety of community-related boards and organizations such as the Dearborn County Chamber of Commerce; Thomas More College/United Appeal Fundraising; The Northern Kentucky Homebuilder’s Association; and Various Planning, Zoning and Subdivision Regulation Committees. Additionally, Weber served as Vice President and Treasurer of the Kentucky League of Property Owners, and as President and a Board Member of Sanitation District No. 1.

Councilman Weber will begin serving office immediately and plans to be in attendance at the upcoming August 7 Council Meeting for formal introductions.

He will hold office the remainder of the seat’s unexpired term, which runs through December 31, 2020.

The council expressed our since appreciation to all of the residents who expressed interest in serving and took the time to meet with City Council.
