The Thomas More volleyball team meets Shawnee State on Thursday at 1:30 p.m. (Eastern time) in the first round of the Mid-South Conference Tournament in Bowling Green, Ky.
Eighth-seeded Campbellsville (16-17 overall, 4-12 MSC) and No. 9 seed Pikeville (9-21, 0-16) meet in the opening round at 11 a.m. Thursday. The Tigers defeated the Bears twice this season. Top-seeded Lindsey Wilson (26-5, 14-2) faces the winner in the quarterfinals at 6:30 p.m. Thursday.
The quarterfinals begin Thursday when No. 2 seed Thomas More (22-7, 13-3) plays No. 7 seed Shawnee State (8-26, 4-12). The Saints defeated the Bears twice during the regular season.
No. 3 seed Georgetown (Ky.) takes on sixth-seeded Cumberlands in a quarterfinal matchup at 4 p.m. The Tigers (18-12, 11-5) and Patriots (17-12, 7-9) split during the regular season.
If Thomas More defeats Shawnee State, the Saints will face the Georgetown/Cumberlands winner in the semifinals on Friday at 4 p.m.
Rounding out the quarterfinals, fourth-seeded Cumberland (Tenn.) takes on fifth-seeded Life (Ga.) at 9 p.m. The Phoenix (22-13, 10-6 MSC) defeated the Running Eagles (19-10, 9-7) twice during the regular season.
The quarterfinal winners advance to Friday’s semifinal round at 4 p.m. and 6:30 p.m. The championship match is scheduled for 7 p.m. on Saturday.
The winner of the Mid-South Conference Tournament earns an automatic bid in the NAIA nationals.
Thomas More is in its first season as a member of the Mid-South Conference. The Saints advanced to the NCAA Division III Tournament last year. Following the 2018-19 academic year, Thomas More transitioned to the NAIA.
