Boone County Schools Supt. Matt Turner starts parent, community members ‘ambassador’ program

October 25, 2021October 24, 2021

Boone County Schools Superintendent Matthew Turner has started a District Ambassador Program (SDAP) for parents and community members.

Boone Supt. Matt Turner

Selected ambassadors attend monthly trainings and tours of departments that run the school district. That is one class each month from July through May.

Ambassadors are learning about how the school district operates and they will become bridge builders in the community.

The October class, for example, was about the Boone County Schools Learning Support Services (LSS) department. Ambassadors met at the LSS building on the Ockerman Campus and learned about what makes this district a distinguished and innovative district. LSS is the heart of education in the Boone County district under the direction of Deputy Superintendent Dr. James Detwiler, and Assistant Superintendents Jenny Watson and Dr. Michael Poiry.

Potential Ambassadors are selected by the superintendent.

The next class for SDAP starts in July of 2022.

If you would like to become an Ambassador for the Boone County Schools next year email barbara.brady@boone.kyschools.us.
