St. Henry won the first state championship trophy of the 2024-25 school year on Saturday when the boys golf team placed first in the All “A” Classic boys state tournament at Gibson Bay Golf Course in Richmond.
The Crusaders topped the 16-team field with a four-player total of 305. Lexington Christian was runner-up at 313. Brossart placed sixth (335) and Walton-Verona was 14th (350).
Pikeville senior Cam Roberts took medalist honors with a 3-under 69. St. Henry seniors Will Carter and Will Hammonds tied for third place at 2-over 74. The other Crusaders on the leaderboard were senior Ben Carter (78), freshman Parker Isaacs (79) and junior Jake Montgomery (80)
St. Henry teams won two previous All “A” Classic boys state tournaments in 2016 and 2020.
Last year’s team finished second by one stoke and added that runner-up trophy to ones received in 2018 and 2019.
The All “A” Classic girls state golf tournament was scheduled for Sunday at Gibson Bay, but no results were posted before 11 p.m.

Sectional rounds in the All “A” Classic boys and girls soccer state tournaments include four games involving Northern Kentucky region champions. Those matchups are:
GIRLS
Wednesday — Walton-Verona vs. Louisville Brown, 6 p.m. at Louisville Collegiate
Monday, Sept. 16 — Brossart at Beechwood, 7:45 p.m.
BOYS
Wednesday — Walton-Verona at Louisville Collegiate, 8 p.m.
Saturday — Brossart at St. Henry, 7:30 p.m.
The 16-team field for the All “A” Classic state volleyball tournament includes St. Henry, Brossart and Walton-Verona. The tournament will be played Sept. 20 and 21 at Bluegrass Sports Complex in Elizabethtown.
