Geiman Furniture Gallery in Cold Spring closing its doors, going-out-of-business sale starts today

Geiman Furniture Gallery, a leading retailer of furniture, bedding and home accents serving the Greater Cincinnati and Northern Kentucky area, is closing the doors, due to the owner’s retirement.

A going out of business sale at the store, located at 3970 Alexandria Pike in Cold Spring, commences today.

Owner Tim Geiman purchased the store February 1, 2006. He began his long career in home furnishings in June of 1980, starting out as a furniture manufacturer sales representative, before becoming a retailer. His sister, Heidi, joined him in the business, serving as the store’s office manager for the past 10 years.

“Our locally owned and operated furniture store offers an incredible assortment of beautifully designed, American-made furniture,” said Geiman. “Whether you are searching for new living room furniture, dining room furniture or bedroom furniture, our furniture experts can assist you.”

Geiman has deep roots in the area. For more than a century, his family’s name has been synonymous with quality and craftsmanship in custom home building and stone masonry in Northern Kentucky. In the 1830s, Tim Geiman’s great-great grandfather Konrad Geiman, Margaretha Wolf and her son Adam emigrated from Bavaria, Germany, to Northern Kentucky. Geiman and Wolf married in 1837, and soon after, bought 40-plus acres of terraced grapevines.

In 1860, Adam Geiman married Kunigunda Leib. The couple made their living growing grapes on the family property, selling their produce to local wineries while also raising nine children, including Tim Geiman’s paternal grandfather Joseph Jacob Geiman.

As a youth, Joe Geiman learned the skills of grape arbor farming and stone masonry from his father and brothers. In 1909, Joe married Rosa Keller. The couple started a family and built a huge hand-hewn stone house on Pooles Creek Road in Cold Spring, which still stands today.

Over the years, Joe Geiman handed down his stone masonry and grape-farming skills to his sons, including Andy Geiman, Tim’s father. After World War II, during which five of Joe Geiman’s sons served in the military (he and Rosa had 14 children in all), several of the brothers launched Geiman Brothers, a custom home-building company in 1951. The company established a legacy of quality craftsmanship that is recognized throughout the region.

Geiman Furniture Gallery, whose slogan is “Quality that you can afford, with a family name you can trust,” also has a well-earned reputation for delivering quality and service.

“Over the years, Geiman Furniture Gallery has become (a) Cincinnati and Northern Kentucky destination for stylish, quality furnishings at an exceptional value,” said Tim Geiman. “This sale event offers customers a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to buy brand name furniture at going-out-of-business prices. We look forward to seeing many old friends during the sale.”

Everything in the store will be sold before the closing.

Geiman Furniture Gallery features furniture and bedding products from well-known brands such as Best Home Furnishings, England, Fusion, Howard Miller, Leather Italia, Southern Motion, Symbol, United Furniture and Vaughan-Bassett. A huge selection of product will be available during the sale, with discounts varying depending on the category.

Products are offered on a first-come, first-served basis. “We suggest shoppers come in early for the best selection,” said Geiman.
