The Thomas More College baseball team defeated traditional rival Wilmington College 9-3 Tuesday in a non-conference game at Tewksbury-Delaney Field in Wilmington, Ohio.
With the win, the Saints improve to 26-8 and with the loss, the Quakers fall to 3-31.

Wilmington scored a run in the second to take 1-0 lead, but the Saints answered with two runs in the third and two in the seventh to build a 4-1 lead. The Quakers plated two runs in the bottom of the seventh to cut the lead to 4-3, and then Thomas More scored five runs in the eighth for the 9-3 victory.
Sophomore right fielder Ben Kenning (Cincinnati, Ohio/Elder) led the Saints at the plate as he was four-for-five with a double and four runs batted-in. Three other Saints had multiple hits in the game as junior left fielder Zach Fardo (Alexandria, Ky./Bishop Brossart) was three-for-five with a run scored, freshman third baseman Bailey Abbatiello (Cincinnati, Ohio/LaSalle) was two-for-five with a RBI and a run scored and junior short stop Marcus Woelfel (Harrsion, Ohio/Harrison) was two-for-three with a RBI and a run scored.
Junior pitcher Taylor Smith (Crestview Hills, Ky./Beechwood) earned the win on the mound as he pitched seven innings giving up three runs (two earned) on seven hits and striking out four. Sophomore pitcher Josh Cain (Cold Springs, Ky./Newport Central Catholic) pitched the eighth inning and only gave up two hits and sophomore pitcher Ken Ruberg (Cincinnati, Ohio/LaSalle) pitched the ninth inning and didn’t allow a hit.
Thomas More closes out the regular season this Friday and Saturday with a three-game series at Waynesburg University in Waynesburg, Pennsylvania. The two teams will play a single nine-inning game on Friday at 3 p.m., followed by a doubleheader on Saturday starting at 12 p.m.
