The first week of high school spring sports playoffs continues Saturday with the sectional rounds of the state team tennis tournaments at two local sites.

Regional team champions will compete in boys’ matches at Covington Catholic High School and girls’ matches at Notre Dame Academy on Saturday. The sectional winners will advance to the state semifinals to be played Thursday, May 14, at the University of Kentucky.
The girls’ sectional matches will be Region 9 champion Notre Dame vs. Region 11 champion Lexington Catholic at 9:30 a.m. and Region 10 champion Highlands vs. Region 12 champion Garrard County at 10:30 a.m. The sectional final is set for 2 p.m.
The schedule for the boys’ sectional is Region 9 champion Covington Catholic vs. Region 11 champion Lexington Henry Clay at 9:30 a.m. and Region 10 champion Highlands vs. Region 12 champion West Jessamine at 10:30 a.m. That sectional final will also be played at 2 p.m.
In team tennis matches, opponents compete in three singles and two doubles matches. One point is awarded to the winner of each match and the first team to get three points is declared the winner.

BASEBALL
District playoffs – May 18-23 at several sites
Regional playoffs – May 25-30 at three sites
State tournament – June 1-6 at Whitaker Bank Ball Park, Lexington
SOFTBALL
District playoffs – May 18-23 at several sites
Regional playoffs – May 25-30 at three sites
State tournament – June 4-6 at Fischer Park, Owensboro
TENNIS
Sectional team playoffs – May 9 at CovCath (boys) and Notre Dame (girls)
State tournament – May 14-16 at the University of Kentucky
TRACK & FIELD
Class A regional meet – May 13 at Walton-Verona Sports Complex
Class 2A regional meet – May 15 at Scott High School
Class 3A regional meet – May 16 at Campbell County High School
State championship meet — May 22-23 at the University of Kentucky
