Carnegie announces its upcoming concert series, one-night-only lineups, sure to please


The Carnegie continues its popular Carnegie in Concert series with a lineup of classical standouts and of course a few returning favorites.

Under the direction of The Carnegie’s new Theatre Director, Maggie Perrino, the 2015-16 Carnegie in Concert series will also delight attendees with a selection of new styles, promising a season of one-night-only concerts that are sure to please.

The 2015-16 season kicks off in October with Mozart’s “The Marriage of Figaro” presented by The Carnegie and Kentucky Opera. In December, The Carnegie will screen the silent film, “Tess of the Storm Country” with accompaniment by acclaimed pianist Jeff Rapsis. Indiana University’s eleven member a cappella group Another Round (formerly known as Straight No Chaser) takes to the stage in March, and Buffalo Wabs & The Price Hill Hustle bring bluegrass to the Otto M. Budig stage in May. The season closes in June with Trilogy featuring Carnegie favorite Nancy James and her friends Anne Chamberlain and Dixie Karas.

The Carnegie and Kentucky Opera present Mozart’s “The Marriage of Figaro”

Thursday, October 1, 7:30 p.m.
The 2015-16 season opens with one of Mozart’s most celebrated comic operas, “The Marriage of Figaro” exquisitely sung by the best classical voices Kentucky has to offer. Love and laugh along with Figaro as he outwits the scheming Count to marry his beautiful bride, Susanna.

“Tess of the Storm Country” – Classic Film, Live Music
Thursday, December 10, 7:30 p.m.

In one of her most beloved roles, silent film icon, Mary Pickford, plays Tess, a down-and-out young woman trying to save her family from eviction in time to celebrate the holidays at home. Acclaimed pianist, Jeff Rapsis, breathes new life into this wonderful film with live musical accompaniment. You’ll also enjoy several holiday-themed shorts prior to the feature film.

Indiana University’s Another Round
Thursday, March 10, 2016, 7:30 p.m.

Join the a cappella craze that is sweeping the nation with an evening of new and old hits, sung in terrifically tight harmony by 11 dynamite young men. IU’s Another Round, formerly known as Straight No Chaser, will entertain and delight with songs beloved by young and old alike.

Buffalo Wabs and The Price Hill Hustle
Thursday, May 5, 2016, 7:30 p.m.

It’s bluegrass night at The Carnegie and Cincinnati favorites Buffalo Wabs and the Price Hill Hustle are sure to bring a knee-slapping, toe-tapping good time! Join us for a special happy hour before the concert to enjoy local, youth bluegrass band The Rocket Flys in the Ohio National Financial Services Main Gallery.

Trilogy
Featuring Nancy James, Anne Chamberlain, and Dixie Karas
Thursday, June 9, 2016, 7:30 p.m.

Nancy James is back and this time she is bringing friends! Award-Winning vocalists Anne Chamberlain, Dixie Karas and Nancy James come together for a singular evening of jazz, soul and even a little musical theatre, too! Joining the singers onstage are jazz greats Rick VanMatre on Saxophone, Mike Sharfe on Bass, Jim Leslie on Drums, and Mike Darrah on Piano.

Ticketing
Subscriptions for the 2015-16 Carnegie in Concert series are now on sale. Single tickets will be on sale June 4 at noon. Tickets may be purchased through The Carnegie Box Office at 859.957.1940 open Tuesday through Friday, noon to 5p.m. or online at www.thecarnegie.com.

The 2015-16 Carnegie in Concert Series has two subscription packages available. The Full Subscription for $92 enables patrons to enjoy all five 2015-16 Carnegie in Concert Series offerings and save $20. The Pick Three Subscription allows patrons to enjoy three 2015-16 Carnegie in Concert Series offerings of their choice and save $3 off each.
