A local memorial service to honor Craig Mullins, a former Boone County High School football player and longtime college assistant coach, will be held at 5 p.m. Friday at First Church of Christ on Camp Ernst Road in Burlington.
Mullins lost his battle with cancer on Monday morning at the age of 45. He is survived by his wife Heidi, and two sons, Cade and Coy.

Mullins was an outstanding football player at Boone County High School. He spent most of his 20-year coaching career at Georgetown College before joining the staff at Morehead State University in 2013.
The local memorial service is something Mullins requested before he passed away, according to his close friend and former high school teammate David Trosper, who is now head football coach at Conner High School.
A memorial service is also scheduled for 1 p.m. Thursday in St. John Chapel on the campus at Georgetown College.
Mullins was also an assistant football coach at Ryle High School early in his career.
He was inducted into the Northern Kentucky High School Athletic Directors Hall of
Fame in 2004.
