Kids, sunshine, butterflies, camp songs… and snakes. It’s back to camp next week at Cincinnati Nature Center. At Rowe Woods in Milford and Long Branch Farm in Goshen, you’ll find youngsters wrangling snakes, taking to a creek for an adventurous hike, learning survival skills, or building forts in the woods.

The essence of CincyNature Camps is to safely immerse children in nature, while providing fun ways for kids to actively challenge their minds and bodies and use their creativity and imagination in a natural setting. Playing and learning in nature promotes a lifetime respect and love of it. Camps are extremely popular and fill up quickly. Right now there are waiting lists for all 27 camps.
From Fossil Hunters to Tribal Nature to Feathered Friends and Creek Week, there’s pretty much something for everyone to pick from the camp menu.
Reptile Roundup is one of the more popular sessions and gives kids ages 7 – 15 an incredible opportunity to catch turtles, snakes, frogs and a myriad of other critters. They are studied up close and later reported on.
“This is about as hands-on nature as you can get,” says Bill Creasey, the Nature Center’s Chief Naturalist.
