In May, the Kenton County Clerk, Gabrielle Summe, turned over $1.4 million in surplus money to the Kenton County Fiscal Court from her first term as County Clerk.

She says that since taking office in 2011, she has implemented such cost saving measures as:

1. Implementing a renew-by-phone line.

2. Promoting the use of the state’s on-line auto renewal service.

3. Reconfiguring both the Covington and Independence Auto departments to decrease customer wait times and improve overall performance and customer satisfaction.

4. Implemented process for collecting delinquent taxes utilizing the Department of Revenue at no cost to County.

5. Cross training deputy clerks so public is better served and procedures are streamlined saving time and money in the process.

6. Cut office supply costs and eliminated overspending by creating and adhering to standard supply guidelines.

These measures are just part of an on-going plan to better utilize technology to increase efficiency and improve customer service, Summe says.

Since 2011, the numbers of full-time employees has decreased from 35 to 30.
