Music@BCM: Beer ‘n’ Brass offers all of the ingredients for an old-fashioned summer concert in the park – dandelions, lightning bugs, starlit skies and the rousing sounds of a brass band.

The 18-piece Mt. Auburn Brass Fellowship will take the stage on Thursday, June 11 for their annual appearance in the concert series hosted by Behringer-Crawford Museum in Covington’s Devou Park. The family-friendly concert takes place outdoors (or inside if it rains) in the BCM amphitheater at 1600 Montague Road. Gates open at 6 p.m., with the performance running from 7 to 9 p.m.
Founded in 1994, the Mt Auburn Brass Fellowship brings together professional, semi-professional and amateur brass players from the Greater Cincinnati area. Members of the ensemble come from many vocations, but all share a passion for music. The Brass Fellowship strives to unearth the rich literature of over 400 years of brass choir music and present it to the public at a high level of musicianship. The June 11 performance will include an original composition by conductor Gary L. Johnston, titled “Childhood Scenes from Covington, Kentucky.”
Admission to the Beer ‘n’ Brass concert is $5 for adults and $3 for children ages 3-12. Adult beverages and food will be available for purchase. The next Music@BCM concert, “Whiskey in the Jar,” featuring Roger Drawdy and the Firestarters, takes place on Thursday, June 18. The series continues each Thursday evening June 25 and July 9-August 13.
Music@BCM’s 2015 sponsors include Ashley Development, Colonial Cottage, Ersatz & Moot Point Railway Company and the Alumni of WNOP Jazz, Ruth Faragher and Family, Hatfield Insurance Agency & Grange Insurance, KW Mechanical, Lucarelli Tactical Group, Reality Tuesday Café and media sponsors WVXU, WGUC and WMUB.
