Two games involving Northern Kentucky high school football teams on Friday will complete the bracket for the Class 4A state playoffs that get under way next week.
Scott, Holmes and Harrison County finished in a three-way tie for first place in their district and the outcome of their final regular season games will determine their places in the Class 4A playoff bracket.

Harrison County will likely come out on top in tiebreaker points no matter what it does against Frankfort Western Hills on Friday. The outcomes of the Scott at Lloyd and Newport at Holmes games will decide which team finishes second and gets to play at home in the first round of the playoffs.
Scott is coming off a 40-6 win over Holmes that created the three-way tie for first place in the district. In that win, Scott junior Quincy Perrin rushed for 220 yards to push his season total over the 1,000 mark. He finished with 1,441 rushing yards last year.
The other interesting match-up on Friday is Campbell County at Covington Catholic for two reasons.
CovCath needs a win to finish the regular season with a 10-0 record for the second straight year. The Colonels are one of seven teams in Kentucky that have not lost this season.
The game will also feature the top two passers in Northern Kentucky, and they’re both first-year starters. CovCath sophomore Caleb Jacob has completed 97 of 146 passes for 1,814 yards and 18 touchdowns. Campbell County senior Andrew Helton’s numbers are 123 of 228 for 1,591 yards and 12 TDs.
Conner’s home game against Fredrick Douglass, the state’s top-rated Class 6A team with a 9-0 record, should also draw fans. In its second season of varsity football, Douglass has outscored its nine opponents, 397-66. Conner won its last two games and senior Christian Webster rushed for 214 yards to give him 1,044 on the season.
