The Northern Kentucky University men’s and women’s track and field squads each earned 2015 United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) All-Academic Team honors, the organization announced.
Norse junior J.J. Webber also received an individual accolade, being named to the 2015 USTFCCCA Men’s All-Academic Team.
The women’ s squad earned the USTFCCCA team award by maintaining a cumulative 3.32 team grade point average, while the men earned the nod with a cumulative team GPA of 3.29.
A total of 224 women’s teams and 123 men’s teams earned the distinction as a result of earning a cumulative team GPA of 3.00 or higher. This marks the first time since the program moved to the NCAA Division I era that both teams have earned the honors.
Webber earned the 2015 USTFCCCA Men’s All-Academic Team accolade by maintaining a 3.62 GPA while majoring in organizational leadership. This latest academic honor adds to an impressive list of academic citation earned by the Liberty Township, Ohio, native during the 2014-15 school year, including Atlantic Sun Conference Outdoor Academic All-Conference, Atlantic Sun Co-Outdoor Scholar of the Year, Atlantic Sun Indoor All-Academic and Atlantic Sun Indoor Scholar Athlete of the Year.
Webber is the first Norse to earn the USTFCCCA Men’s All-Academic Team honor since the program’s move to Division I.
