Are you an American Idiot? Or the Jesus of Suburbia? Do you just want to wake up when September ends? Then get your tickets to see Green Day’s AMERICAN IDIOT, weekends, August 10-25 at The Carnegie.

The Carnegie’s 2019-20 theatre season kicks off with this two-time Tony Award-winning musical, based on the Grammy Award-winning, multi-platinum album of the same name.

The high-energy rock opera follows three disaffected young men living in suburbia, who have dreams of a different life in the city. They embark on their big move, only to find their friendships breaking down over family responsibilities, military enlistment, and the allure of drug abuse. Each young man must make peace with the circumstances of his life to find his way back home and to the friends he left behind.

“We wanted to start the 2019-20 season with something big, and Green Day fits the bill,” said Director Maggie Perrino. “’American Idiot’ is a cultural icon of the early 2000s, and the music captures the angst and struggle of a generation.”

The rock opera features all of the songs from the “American Idiot” album, as well as others from Green Day. The hits include “American Idiot,” “Holiday,” “Boulevard of Broken Dreams,” “Give me Novacaine,” “21 Guns,” and “Wake Me up When September Ends.”

Performances of Green Day’s AMERICAN IDIOT run weekends August 10-25, Fridays at 7:30 p.m., Saturdays at 7:30 p.m., and Sundays at 3:00 p.m. Tickets are $32, $29 for Carnegie Members and ArtsPass Members, $25 for students.
