The Northern Kentucky Cooperative for Educational Services will participate in the release the Kentucky Association of School Superintendents’ Legislative and Advocacy Priorities tomorrow.
Coordinated press conferences are being held throughout the state.
Superintendents of the 16 school districts in Northern Kentucky, united through the Northern Kentucky Cooperative for Educational Services, will share their legislative agenda and encourage community members to Go Vote on November 5.
This local press conference will take place at 9 a.m. at 5516 East Alexandria Pike.
Mike Borchers, superintendent of Ludlow Independent Schools, is advocacy chair of NKCES, and Amy Razor is executive director.
Superintendents encourage citizens to vote, both to be sure their voice is part of our communities and to serve as positive role models for children. Voting allows all of us to share our individual voices as we participate in the democratic process, the group said in a press release.
Voting is fundamental to providing the best education and the best future possible for our children and our region, NKCES said in a press release.
In addition, teaching children civic engagement is required in schools, and children need to see that their role models value this right and responsibility.
Superintendents encourage community members to contact their county clerks to find out how to use absentee ballots if they will be out of the county on Election Day. Every voice matters.
At this event, superintendents will also discuss their legislative agenda that includes two key elements:
1. Educator development and support to building a strong pipeline
2. Adequate and equitable funding for public education.
The press release also emphasized: As state educational leaders, it is critical that we remain an integral part of the process as our Commonwealth considers policy issues that will affect our students and those who serve
them. To this end, we want to share a unified voice on these priorities as we think it’s critical that all Kentuckians know and understand critical issues that must be addressed.
