Northern Kentucky law enforcement officials take threats of school violence very seriously.

It’s a lesson a Cooper High School juvenile learned the hard way Monday.

The 15-year old female student was taken to the Campbell County Juvenile Detention Center, after Boone County Sheriff’s officials say she told a classmate he or she was “going to be on my list.” When asked what list police say she responded “my list for when I shoot up the school.”

During an interview, police say the student admitted to the statement, but said she was only joking.

She was taken into custody and charged with Terroristic Threatening 2nd Degree, a Class D Felony.

The Boone County Sheriff’s office issued the following statement regarding the incident.

On Monday, October 28, 2019, at approximately 4:00 PM, the Boone County Sheriff’s Office received a report of a school shooting threat made by a Boone County student.

The threat was made towards the end of the school day and a female juvenile was later taken into custody and charged accordingly.

The female juvenile, 15, who attends Cooper High School was in class on Monday and while in a group with other students at school she said to another classmate, “you’re going to be on my list.”

Upon receiving the report, deputies promptly investigated the threat by interviewing the juvenile suspect at her residence. During the interview, she admitted that she made the threat but went on to say that she was “joking.”
