Northern Kentucky University center fielder KC Straley was named to College Sports Madness’ 2015 Atlantic Sun Conference Preseason All-Conference team, the publication announced on Sunday.
Straley was the only Norse player honored, taking a second-team selection. She is the first NKU player to earn such an honor since the Norse joined the Atlantic Sun for the 2013 season.

“I’m so happy for KC for being named to College Sports Madness preseason all A-Sun second team,” said head coach Kathy Stewart. “She is the best outfielder in my tenure and her offense has really come along. Further, she is an outstanding baserunner. What an honor for both KC and NKU Softball.”
Straley, a senior from Hebron, Kentucky, returns to the Norse for her third season after a strong junior campaign in which she hit .229. She also drew a team-best 19 walks to lead to a .348 on-base percentage, also tops for the Norse. She scored a team-high 29 runs and stole 22 bases, ranking fourth among A-Sun speedsters with the second-highest single-season total in Norse history. Since coming to NKU in 2013, Straley has swiped 30 bags, ranking sixth all-time at NKU.
Straley and the Norse get the 2015 season underway this weekend as they take part in the Kennesaw State Kickoff Classic in Kennesaw, Georgia. NKU will take on Tennessee Tech and Dayton on Saturday before closing out the weekend on Sunday with games against Ohio and Tennessee.
