The Northern Kentucky University men’s soccer team (3-2-0) travels to Dayton on Friday with kickoff set for 7 p.m. at Baujan Field.
The match will be NKU’s fifth-straight road contest since opening the 2015 season. Links to live stats and the live video stream are available at NKUNorse.com.
Dayton enters the match 3-3-0 on the season following a 2-0 loss to Horizon League member Oakland on Sept. 12 at home. Head coach Dennis Currier is 103-65-29 (10 years) at the helm for the Flyers and holds an overall career record of 292-114-41 (22 years). In 2014, the Flyers finished 7-7-5 overall and 3-3-2 Atlantic-10 play to finish sixth in the conference standings.

This will be the second meeting all-time between NKU and Dayton, with Dayton winning the first and only match between the two, 3-1, Oct. 7, 1987. The Norse are 0-3 all-time against teams from the A-10 Conference.
In NKU’s last outing, senior Yaw Addai scored two goals in the Norse’s 2-0 win over IPFW. It was the first multi-goal match for any Norse this season. The last time a Norse recorded a multi-goal game was on Sept. 23, 2014 when Kobie Qualah and Cain McDonald each recorded two goals in NKU’s 4-3 overtime win over Wright State.
Senior Northern Kentucky University men’ soccer goalkeeper A.J. Fleak earned Horizon League Defensive Player of the Week honors for the second week in a row, the league office announced on Monday. In week three of the season, Fleak shutout IPFW, hauling in five saves on 21 shots faced.
The shutout was Fleak’s third of the season and his third in four matches. The clean sheet was the 13th of his career as a Norse moving him into a tie for third all-time in program history with Nate Madden (2001-04) and Jeb Snyder (1990-93).
In NKU’s three wins this season, the game-winning goal in each match was scored in the second half of the match. Calvin Murphy has accounted for two game winners (Memphis, Aug. 31; Saint Francis, Sept. 4) and Yaw Addai has accounted for one (IPFW, Sept. 13).
Addai scored two goals as NKU downed IPFW 2-0 on Sunday, Sept. 13. After a scoreless first frame, Addai broke up the stalemate in the 73rd minute netting what proved to be the game-winner with an assist by Diego Martinez. Martinez played the ball across the box with Addai beating the keeper on the right post to give NKU the 1-0 advantage. In the 88th minute, Addai scored his second goal of the match, this time unassisted.
On a breakaway following a deflection, Addai took on IPFW goalkeeper Raphael Kotzock one-on-one, finishing to the left post pushing the NKU lead to the final score of 2-0.
Following their match with Dayton on Friday, the Norse will return to action on Tuesday, Sept. 22, in their first-ever Horizon League match in a road contest with regional-rival Wright State University. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m. at the Rinzler Student Sports Complex.
