NKU, Thomas More invite you to a lunar eclipse party (last chance until 2019) at their observatories Sunday


You’re invited to a front-row seats for the total lunar eclipse this Sunday at Thomas More College’s Observatory and NKU’s Digital Planetarium.

It will be the last chance to view a total lunar eclipse from the Tri-State Area until January, 2019.

The Thomas More event is free and open to the public from 8 p.m. to 1 a.m. The visible portion of the eclipse begins just after 9 p.m.

Heavy cloud cover, rain or extreme cold will cancel the event.

Observatory Event

At NKU, the Haile Digital Planetarium and NKU’s Department of Physics, Geology and Engineering Technology will offer the public the chance to view the event, speak with astronomers, view special programs, and interact with the planetarium dome.

The event begins at 9 p.m.

Telescopes will be set up outside the Hermann Natural Science Center, weather permitting. A webcast of the eclipse will be streamed on the planetarium dome, rain or shine, and those who attend can learn how to control the dome.

The planetarium will also present the programs Earth, Moon, Sun at 9 p.m. and Back to the Moon at 10 p.m.

The Haile Digital Planetarium is located in the Dorothy Westerman Herrmann Natural Science Center. Parking is available in the Kenton Drive Garage.
