Notre Dame places fourth in Kentucky high school girls’ state golf tournament


Notre Dame placed fourth in the Kentucky high school girls’ state golf tournament at Bowling Green Country Club with a 36-hole team total of 655 that was 26 strokes behind the winning score of 629 posted by Madison Central.

In Friday’s first round, Notre Dame carded a 321 that was only five strokes behind the leader. But the Pandas came back with a 334 in Saturday’s final round and fell out of contention for the team title. Ryle had a 363 team score on Friday and did not qualify for the final round.

Notre Dame senior Erin Durstock tied for ninth place in the individual standings with a 150 total. She shot even-par 72 on Friday and six-over 78 on Saturday. The individual medalist was Paducah Tilghman senior Teri Doss with a 138 total. She shot 3-under 69 in both rounds.

The 36-hole scores for other Notre Dame golfers were 159 by Lauren Bracken, 164 by Amy Pugliano and 182 by Bricking. The Pandas’ fifth golfer, Caitlyn Zielienewski, had a 199, but her rounds did not count in the team total.

Conner sophomore Madison Smith was an at-large qualifier and finished with a 161 total. She had rounds of 77 and 84.
