Villa Hills Civic Club burns down overnight; no cause yet cited for the loss

Staff report

A fire overnight has destroyed the Villa Hills Civic Club, a blow to the community where social events and gatherings brought it together, including for a Bengals watching party on Sunday.

Fire Chief Jeff Wendt said Ladder 510, first on the scene, reported heavy fire from the rear and North Sides of the building. Ladder 710 from Ft Mitchell and two addition engines from Erlanger and Ft. Wright were requested.

Fire crews started fighting the fire just before 3 a.m. and the fire was reported under control at 4:30 a.m. Wind conditions gusted to 46 mph, hampering firefighting efforts and contributing to the rapid spread of the fire. No determination yet on its cause.

The building is considered a total loss, estimated at $320,000 with an additional $130,000 in contents, but the manager says it will be rebuilt.

There were apparently no injuries.
