A Kentucky delegation led by Aaron Thompson, executive vice president for the Council on Postsecondary Education, is among the invited participants at a White House convening on federal student aid today.
As part of First Lady Michelle Obama’s Reach Higher Initiative, state teams from across the country are sharing best practices on eliminating barriers faced by low-income and first-generation students using federal student aid. The convening includes remarks from members of the Obama Administration, panel discussions and breakout sessions focused on how states are using data provided by the federal government to track and promote completion of the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FASFA) at the local and state levels.
Kentucky’s team includes Carl Rollins, executive director of the Kentucky Higher Education Assistance Authority; Dawn Offutt, director for program services for GEAR UP Kentucky; and Kim Millerd, director of strategic initiatives for GEAR UP Kentucky and facilitator of the Kentucky College and Career Connection Coalition.
