  1. I read with interest the Northern Kentucky Tribune article “Boone County candidates for local offices, as they will appear on the ballot for the May 17 primary”. Can this be correct? Every candidate that is running for a partisan office is a Republican. Most of them are running unopposed in the primary. Isn’t May 17th a two party primary? Where is the other party? If Republicans are running unopposed for every office in the County, isn’t that political power? If there is only one party, isn’t that absolute political power? Doesn’t absolute power corrupt? I certainly hope that third-party and write-in candidates – who are not permitted by law to participate in the state-funded, two-party primary – show up on the November General Election ballot to give the voters some choices. Boone County needs to break up the Republican cabal to avoid the appearance of impropriety.

    1. What Lex said. We can’t begin to change KY politics if Dems don’t at least have names on ballots.

  2. If the Democratic party wasn’t running our country already I would probably vote for 1 but seeing how everything is prices are going up on everything because the Democratic Party after seeing what has happened with the Democratic party I don’t know anybody that wants to vote Democrat just saying

  3. The primary coming up is a Republican Primary to see who the Republican Party wishes to put forward as their candidate to run in the Fall Election. Only Republicans and Non-Partisan candidates can be on the ballot in a Republican Primary. When the Democrats hold a Primary, then only Democrats and Non-Partisan candidates can run in a Democratic Primary. In the above article, the statement was made: “In a primary election, registered voters select a candidate that they believe should be a political party’s candidate for elected office to run in the general election.” I hope I’ve clarified why there are only Republicans and Non-Partisan candidates on the ballot in the upcoming Republican Primary.

  4. Thanks K. Marshall, I was about to have a coronary

The previous comments to yours is indicative of the lack of understanding of how our voting system works and it proof positive people need educated prior to casting their votes…

  5. I can see why no Democrat is running after the way the current administration has driven the trump amazing prosperity into a disastrous train wreck by a series of self-inflicted wounds. Their name by merely appearing on your computer would probably burst into flames and burn a hole in your monitor!

  6. Sorry to say but the Democratic party is not running the country because the Senate is controlling the Democratic party. Thanks to mr. McConnell and a couple of Democrats who seem to be Republican. A lot of things have been put forward by the Democratic party to help the average citizen only to be squash by the Senate.

  7. The current administration has tried over and over to enact legislation that would solve many of our current problems.
The Republicans in the Senate have shot them down every time. Mostly McConnell. The current republicans don’t care about your problems…only about kissing up to Trump.
    That won’t change

  8. You cry babies don’t like the republicans running for office? Stop crying and run for whatever office you want. That is all you democratic people do is cry and whine.

  9. There need to be more choices,as an independent they seem to force us to vote republican. If there was a Republican running that can accept facts & stop the conspiracy lies I’d consider. None of these candidates bring anything new, they are just running unopposed… again for the most part, no diversity,no changes, and none of these seem to support women’s reproductive rights. So some of us either don’t vote or weed out the lesser of the crazy. Kentucky needs a change & I’m sorry none of these are that change
