The doctor, the storyteller: Brian Jones

Dr. Brian Jones, director of Hospice for St. Elizabeth Healthcare in Edgewood presented a workshop at the Kentucky Storytelling Conference Nov. 7 at Dale Hollow Lake State Resort Park near the Kentucky-Tennessee border. This event was sponsored by the Kentucky Storytelling Association (KSA).

In this workshop, Dr. Jones helped attendees to learn methods to record life stories of those facing death and to appreciate the telling of that story.

Dr. Brian Jones serves as Director of Hospice and Palliative Care for St. Elizabeth Healthcare in Edgewood. He also teaches adjunct at The Christ College of Nursing and Health Sciences in Cincinnati. He has written several peer-reviewed research articles and speaks regularly at state and national conferences on subjects related to spirituality in medicine, end-of-life care, and medical bioethics.

Lonnie Fields of Hebron

Talbert House has named Lonnie Fields as the Assistant Chief Financial Officer, overseeing operations of the agency’s finance department.

Lonnie is a lifelong resident of Greater Cincinnati and a Certified Public Accountant with a bachelor’s degree in accounting from Xavier University. His other credentials include: Dale Carnegie Leadership Training; Leadership Northern Kentucky (Class of 2006); Xavier University Center for Management and Professional Development; and the University of Cincinnati Center for Career Development. Lonnie brings 11 years of experience in the nonprofit environment, most of which was with Senior Services of Northern Kentucky. He currently serves on the Board of Directors for Bawac, a nonprofit community rehabilitation center.

Lonnie lives in Hebron with his wife, Lisa, and two children, Logan and Melissa.

Chris Powers joins TMC

Thomas More College has named Dr. Chris Powers Associate Vice-President for Enrollment Management. Powers comes to TMC from the University of Cincinnati Blue Ash College where he has served as the Director of Enrollment Services since 2006.

Prior to that, Powers worked in both financial aid and admissions offices at the UC Blue Ash College, Miami University, and Hanover College.

“As Thomas More College continues to buck national trends and increase enrollment, we are excited to have someone of Chris Powers’ caliber and background to help lead that charge,” said Thomas More College President David Armstrong. Thomas More College currently has its highest full-time enrollment of the past decade and a record number of students are living on campus.

“In addition, Chris’s background in small private liberal arts colleges, both as an undergraduate student at Berea and an admissions counselor at Hanover College, makes him a perfect fit,” Armstrong added.

Powers begins with Thomas More College November 16.

Paycor CEO to speak at Cov Business Council

Paycor CEO Bob Coughlin will discuss relocating Paycor’s corporate headquarters and what thoughts went into the process. Paycor is America’s Largest independent provider of software for HR and payroll management.

In 2012 Paycor introduced Perform, a new cloud based HR/Payroll and Reporting platform and has Paycor has won numerous awards. Bob is the founder of the nationally recognized Cincinnati Flying Pig Marathon and is Cincinnati’s largest annual convention and visitor event.
