Thomas More College welcomes the public to a discussion focusing on the deadly and beautiful characteristics of our sun on Saturday, November 21 at 7 p.m.
The sun is the source of energy for almost all life on Earth and also responsible for the dazzling displays of the northern and southern lights. However, specialized telescopes can reveal a very different story about our star. It is a violent, dynamic, and dangerous place. Solar flares and other large eruptions from the sun can threaten our technology and our way of life.
Join us after the talk for a viewing of the moon, stars, and more at the BB&T Observatory, weather permitting. Thomas More College faculty and students will be available to help the public view the night sky through a telescope. This talk is intended for a general audience. All ages are welcome.
The event is free and open to the public.
