Scott posted its first win of the high school football season Thursday with an impressive offensive performance that carried the home team to a 43-12 victory over Holy Cross.

The Eagles (1-2) did all of their scoring in the first half and finished with a 333-133 advantage in total yards. Senior running back Bennie Hill rushed for 184 yards and two touchdowns. Senior quarterback Dasani Lane completed 8 of 12 passes for 137 yards and three TDs.

Holy Cross (1-2) scored both of its touchdowns on passes from junior Landyn Phillips to senior Javier Ward. The first one covered 56 yards late in the first quarter. They connected again on a 33-yard strike late in the third quarter.

Nolan Hunter caught one of the TD passes for Scott. He also scored on defense by recovering a fumble on a botched punt attempt that was one of three turnovers committed by Holy Cross.

Dylen Giffen and Boomer Klusman were the other Scott receivers who caught touchdowns passes from Lane.

In another game played Thursday night, Brossart rolled to a 52-0 win over Bellevue in Alexandria.

The Mustangs (2-1) had seven players score touchdowns in the first half, starting with a 59-yard run by senior Derrick Martin. Three of their touchdowns in the second quarter came on interception returns by seniors Evan Orth, Logan Woosley and Tyler Kreidenweiss.

The big game on Friday’s schedule is Cooper at Ryle, the annual Battle of Union between two high schools located a few miles apart in that city.

Ryle has won the last six games in the series, but the scoring margin last year was 14-7. Both teams enter Friday’s game with a 1-1 record and put up big offensive numbers in wins last week.

Cooper netted 427 yards in a 41-36 win over Dixie Heights with Eli White rushing for 215 yards on 33 carries. Ryle had 320 yards in a 21-7 win over Conner with Jayce Hardin picking up 137 yards on 20 carries.
