Educators Rising Kentucky encourages, supports aspiring future educators, elects leadership

Since its inception during the 2016-2017 academic year, Educators Rising Kentucky has worked to encourage and support aspiring educators in their pursuit of careers in education.

A significant component of any career and technical student organization (CTSO) is its student leadership. The inaugural team of Educators Rising Kentucky State officers who will serve for the 2022-2023 academic year are:

• President: Audrey Gilbert, Frankfort High School (Frankfort Independent)
• Vice President of Communications: Alicia Konichek, Bullitt Central High School (Bullitt County)
• Vice President of Programs and Service: Janae Allen, Ballard High School (Jefferson County)
• Vice President of Memberships: Lilly Hibbs, Union County High School

Each of these student leaders brings with them a combined total of more than 16 years of student leadership experience from Educators Rising, other CTSO leadership experience and several extra-curricular activities.

In addition to these student leaders, Courtney Ashton – an education major at Lindsey Wilson College who served as Educators Rising National Vice President of Programs last year – will serve as the state collegiate advisor working with the student leadership team.

These student leaders will significantly elevate student voice in Educators Rising Kentucky at the state level and will be involved in the planning and execution of the state conference.

They will be involved in a CTE showcase this spring and meeting with state legislators to discuss the needs of future educators.

Additionally, these students will represent Educators Rising Kentucky at regional events throughout the Commonwealth and at the national conference this June in Orlando, Fla.
