Forestry and wildlife experts from Kentucky, Indiana and Ohio will offer advice on how woodland owners can get the most from their properties during the annual Ohio River Valley Woodlands and Wildlife Workshop on March 28 in Sharonville, Ohio.
Sponsored by the Cooperative Extension Services of The Ohio State University, University of Kentucky and Purdue University, the one-day workshop is hosted by Ohio State’s College of Food, Agricultural and Environmental Sciences this year. It runs from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Sharonville Convention Center, 11355 Chester Road.
Doug McLaren and Chris Reeves from the UK Department of Forestry will be representing UK. McLaren will lead a session on tree identification. Reeves will lead the discussion on forest certification.
Other concurrent sessions will include such wildlife topics as planting food plots to attract wildlife, wild turkey and deer management, woodland butterflies, skull identification and macro-invertebrates; forestry topics such as the Asian longhorn beetle and thousand cankers disease and understanding the worth of your trees; and alternative forest issues, such as woodland fungi and managing a hunting lease enterprise.
