
Behringer-Crawford Museum was among the groups celebrating Kentucky’s rich arts culture during “Arts Day in Kentucky” recently.
BCM is among 96 arts organizations across the state to receive a Kentucky Arts Partnership (KAP) grant from the Kentucky Arts Council for fiscal year 2015. The grants provide operating support to nonprofit organizations that offer year-round arts services and programs directly to the public. The grant to BCM was $11,895.
The 2015 Arts Day was notable for coming during the 50th anniversary year of the establishment of the arts council by Gov. Edward T. Breathitt and the creation of the National Endowment for the Arts by Congress. The Kentucky Arts Council is celebrating 2015 as the Year of the Arts.
Behringer-Crawford Museum offers varied cultural experiences and participation in the arts and invests the dollars received from the state in the local community to help create lasting relationships that strengthen the community and benefit the people who live here.
In the previous fiscal year, Behringer-Crawford Museum received $19,833 from the Kentucky Arts Council and reports that it leverage those funds to:
* Generate $46,411 in municipal, state and federal taxes.
* Provide 33,467 individual art experiences to visitors.
* Provide arts education experiences to 8,671 young people from 41 local schools.
* Provide four full-time jobs, three part-time jobs and five contract-for-service positions.
* Leverage earned income, corporate sponsorships, private foundation grants, local government support and individual donations for a total of $312,369.
During the same time period, BCM was one of 102 Kentucky arts organizations that helped provide more than 5.8 million arts experiences and more than 1.3 million arts education experiences for the people of the Commonwealth.
