After the loss of senior and all-time leading scorer Marques Warrick to the University of Missouri, the Northern Kentucky basketball team got good news Monday when Trey Robinson, also a senior star for the Norse, announced that he will return for next season as a grad student.

A two-year starter and graduate of Hamilton, Ohio, High School, Robinson is the current Horizon League Defensive Player of the Year. The 6-foot-6, 220-pound wing will be coming off a career year after averaging 11.7 points, 7.0 rebounds, 1.9 assists and 1.8 steals a game in 2023-24.
“Thankful we get to coach this guy one more year . . . special dude,” tweeted NKU Coach Darrin Horn. “Everything we want our program to be about . . . and we caught a glimpse at the end of the year just how good he can be.”
Robinson may have just done that in giving a bit of a preview for next season with his career-best 33 points and nine rebounds in an 82-75 Horizon semifinals loss to Milwaukee where he outplayed Milwaukee’s BJ Freeman, considered the best player in the Horizon League, to earn Horizon All-Tournament Team honors.
For his career, Robinson has 873 points, 510 rebounds, 157 assists, 149 steals and 41 blocks. He is certainly within reach of the 1,000-point Club at NKU, an accomplishment only 30 previous basketball players have reached. He could also become just the eighth NKU player in school history to record 1,000-plus career points and 600-plus career rebounds.
