Kentucky Speedway Track Services team honored with NASCAR Mission Award for second straight year


At the annual NASCAR Summit in Concord, North Carolina, Kentucky Speedway’s track services team has been honored with the Track Services Mission Award for the second consecutive year.

The NASCAR Summit brings together track medical, safety, security and track services personnel for a three-day meeting prior to the start of the upcoming race season.

The Track Services Mission Award is presented annually to an organization that excels in improving the safety of all NASCAR event participants. This is accomplished by outstanding advanced continuing education and qualified training for all track services personnel, which results in exemplary performance during race weekends.

“I could not be more proud of our Track Services Team as they again receive this much deserved recognition from NASCAR,” said Kentucky Speedway General Manager Mark Simendinger. “They are a dedicated and skilled group that represents the best of Kentucky Speedway each and every day.”

The annual NASCAR Summit, one of the most vital and unique preseason conventions in all of motor sports, concludes today at its Concord (NC) Convention Center home base, where a record number of more than 800 attendees converged to ideate and address numerous key topics in their areas of expertise.

Attendees utilize the Summit as a baseline for the coming year while planning for their individual events which continue to include update meetings before, during and after each race weekend.

The 2016 season at Kentucky Speedway in Sparta begins in July with the return of a NASCAR tripleheader weekend anchored by the July 9 Sprint Cup Series Quaker State 400 presented by Advance Auto Parts. The Camping World Truck Series starts the weekend with a 225-mile event Thursday, July 7 and the XFINITY Series 300-mile event is Friday, July 8.

The XFINITY Series makes its second appearance at the track on Saturday, September 24 along with the ARCA Racing Series Crosley 150 on Friday, September 23 to conclude the fall weekend of racing.
