Thomas More College is presenting a a discussion focusing on the recent breakthrough discovery pointing toward the existence of gravitational waves, predicted by Einstein’s general theory of relativity more than a century ago.
It is free and open to the public.
The event will be held on TMC’s Crestview Hills campus on Saturday, March 19 beginning at 8 p.m.
There will be a quick overview of general relativity and discuss the experiment used to make the first detection of gravitational waves. This phenomenon will likely unlock a new view of the Universe not possible with today’s light-based instruments.
Weather permitting, there will be a viewing of the Moon, stars, and more at The BB&T Observatory.
Thomas More College faculty and students will be available to help the public view the night sky through a telescope.
This talk is intended for a general audience. All ages are welcome. The event is free and open to the public.
