National organizers of No Kings Day of Nonviolent Action have announced that more than 3,000 local events are shaping up for March 28.
Some of those events will be in Northern Kentucky and Cincinnati — organizers emphasize the “nonviolent” nature of the protests.
Last June, more than five million people to the streets in more than 2,100 events during the coalition’s first day of action. Then more than seven million people protested during 2,700 events last October.
Organizers are expecting to set another record on March 28.
“On March 28, we will come together to show that our communities reject corruption, senseless ward, and division,” said Katie Bethell, executive director of MoveOn Civic Action, one of the members of the coalition. “Instead, we welcome immigrants, believe in the rule of law, and stand up for an economy that works for everyone.
“More of us than ever before will rise up, because American does not belong to strongment or those who rule through fear. It belongs to us, the people.”
Groups organizing the nonviolent and lawful No Kings protests across the county include ACLU, American Federation of Teachers, Common Defense, 50501, Human rights Campaign, Indivisibe, League of Conservation Voters, MoveOn, National Education Association, National Nurses United, Public Citizne, SEIU, United We Dream, among others. Just in Kentucky, there are up to 38 events, and that number will likely go over 40, say organizers.
No Kings events adhere to a shared commitment to nonviolent and lawful protest and community safety. Organizers are trained in de-escalation every local event has a safety lead, and organizers are coordinating closely with local partnrs to ensure powerful, nonviolent local actions.
