Easterseals Redwood will host its annual fundraising event, Express, from 6-10:30 p.m. on Friday, May 8, at Turfway Park Racing & Gaming, 7500 Turfway Road in Florence. The event raises money to support the more than 800 individuals with disabilities who participate in Easterseals Redwood’s programs each year.
In its 44th year, Express will include a silent disco, entertainment, multiple food stations including a build-your-own-coney bar, an open bar, live and silent auctions, and raffles. The event serves as a celebration of abilities and achievements while also gathering the community together to further support and expand Easterseals Redwood’s impact.
“Express has become a special way for Easterseals Redwood to bring people together in support of our mission while celebrating all abilities,” said Pam Green, CEO of Easterseals Redwood. “Every day, we support more than 800 individuals with disabilities through programs that build education, create employment opportunities, and improve overall health and well-being. The work we do truly changes lives across our region, and we’re excited to continue helping individuals and families thrive in the year ahead.”
Express serves to help individuals like Reece, a preschooler at Easterseals Redwood who is full of peace, joy and resilience. Reece was born with a very rare genetic disorder called diploid-triploid mosaicism, which means some of her chromosomes are tripled, while others are not, leading to very low muscle tone. She is g-tube dependent for meals, is non-verbal and has many obstacles to overcome to reach milestones such as crawling and walking. Through Easterseals Redwood, Reece receives the medical support and care she needs, in an inclusive environment where she can also laugh, play and just be a kid.
Tickets to Easterseals Redwood’s Express are $150 and available for purchase online. Even if individuals can’t attend this year’s Express, the silent auction will be available online for bidding starting May 1. The Grand Raffle and Super Night Out Raffle can also be purchased online and the winners do not need to be present at the event.
