Fair days are on the way: Boone County 4-H & Utopia Fair at Boone Fairgrounds June 22-27

Staff report

The Boone County 4-H & Utopia Fair — always guaranteed to draw big crowds and offer family fun and competitions for all — will be held at the Boone County Fairgrounds, June 22-27.

As always, parking is free and you can walk up to the gate to pay admission. A special price of $15 will get guests all rides free and grandstand entertainment seating.

Saturday, June 20 (starting at 3 p.m.) and Sunday, June 21, sstarting at 2 p.m. are free days.

On Saturday, there’s a Fishing Frenzy for those 15 and under at Fairgrounds Lake and a Vehicle Cruise In (for cars, trucks, tractors and antique equipment). That evening will be live music, kids games and activities with food available to purchase to celebrate America’s 250th Anniversary. Fireworks will cap off the night.

On Sunday, see homemakers exhibits in Lutes Floral Hall, participate in Open Classes in the exhibit building, and see FFA displays of vegetables, fruits and crops from 2-5 p.m.

From June 22-27, experience special events and entertainment every day — including 4-H shows, pig scrambles, dirt racing, truck and tractor pulls and a demolition derby, horse shows, pageants, bingos, and all kinds of contests and competitions. There’s even a Frog Jumping Content on Tuesday. And exhibits, exhibits, exhibits.

Plus live entertainment every night.

All this against the backdrop of carnival rides, exhibits galore, food for every appetite, and fun all around.

Sunday, June 28 is another free day as exhibits are released — but there’s a farm tractor pulling contest at 1 p.m. in the Motor Sports Arena for good measure.
