Boone County is inviting residents to celebrate America’s 250th Anniversary with a free, family-friendly event on today from 3-10 p.m. at the Boone County Fairgrounds.
Local vendors and food trucks will have items available for purchase. Free kids’ activities include face painting, balloon animals, games, bounce houses and glow-in-the-dark mini golf.
Community organizations will also be on hand to share information and giveaways.
The day’s schedule includes:
• 3-5 p.m.: Fishing Derby. Cast a line with the Northern Kentucky Fly Fishers. No license is required. Pole and bait provided if needed.
• 4 p.m.: Cruise In. Join car enthusiasts to appreciate classic cars, trucks, tractors and antique engines.
• 4-5 p.m.: Florence Community Band. Enjoy a fun performance of concert music from the all-volunteer Florence Community Band.
• 5:30-6:15 p.m.: Opening Ceremony. Join current and past elected officials for our opening ceremony to honor America’s and our county’s past.
• 6:30-7:30 p.m.: Push Button Radio Band. Listen to Push Button Radio’s performance of the timeless tracks of the 70s and early 80s.
• 7-8 p.m.: Honorable Anthony Frohlich Book Signing. Meet with local author and former Chief Circuit Court Judge Anthony Frohlich to discuss former Patriots of Boone County and his book, “Revolutionary War Soldiers of Boone County.”
• 7:30-8 p.m.: Young Guns Drill Team. Prepared to be wowed by a performance from the Young Guns Drill Team, the highly decorated horseback drill team.
• 8-9:45 p.m.: DV8 Band. Local band DV8 helps bring the night to a close on the Main Stage.
• 9:45 p.m.: Fireworks. Cap the night with a firework display worthy of America’s 250th anniversary.
