Kentucky Transportation Cabinet (KYTC) Secretary Greg Thomas announced Wednesday John-Mark Hack will serve as Commissioner of the Department of Vehicle Regulation.
“John-Mark’s seasoned career and diverse leadership experience will be a great asset for the Department of Vehicle Regulation as well as the Cabinet,” said Thomas.
Prior to joining KYTC, Hack was president of Flourishing, Inc., a consulting firm specializing in land-based business development. He also served as executive director of the non-profit Local Food Association.
Over his 22-year career, Hack worked for a variety of corporate, non-profit, educational and government organizations. Hack’s last state government service was in 1998, when he established the Governor’s Office of Agricultural Policy and served as its first executive director.
Hack served as the first CEO of the Kentucky Agricultural Development Fund, president of the Kentucky Tobacco Settlement Trust Corporation and led the effort to diversify Kentucky’s farm economy.

Hack served as an adjunct instructor at the University of Kentucky where he also completed his Master’s degree in 1992. He earned his bachelor’s from Transylvania University in 1988. He is also a 2010 graduate of Leadership Kentucky as well as a 1997 graduate of the Kentucky Natural Resources Leadership Institute.
Hack is a fifth generation Kentuckian who lives in Woodford County with his wife of 26 years, Carol Devine, and their three children, Benjamin, Elijah and Sarah.

Where does Real ID law stand in priorities of this 2017 session?
I don’t have a passport but I do have a Ky driver’s license, I’d hate to think I’d need to spend more $$$ for a regional flight. What’s the holdup?
