Newport Memorial Day Parade, veterans ceremony to begin at 9 a.m. Monday at 4th and Columbia


Newport will be celebrating Memorial Day, Monday, May 30 with a parade beginning at 9 a.m. followed by a Veterans Ceremony at the City Building.

The parade route begins at 4th and Columbia then proceeds South on York Street to Sixth Street, East on Sixth Street to Monmouth Street, South on Monmouth Street to Tenth Street and ends at the City Building.

Following the parade, a ceremony in honor of Veterans, will be held in front of the Newport City Building at Tenth and Monmouth Streets.  

Participants include: City Manager Tom Fromme, Mayor Jerry Peluso, Grand Marshal Bill Dryer, and Newport High School Band.

Wreath Presentations will be made by American Legion Post 11 and Lawler Hanlon VFW Post 5662. A 21 Gun Salute will be offered by the Newport Police Department Honor Guard.

A complimentary continental breakfast will follow in the first floor Multi-Purpose room of the City Building.  

The parade and ceremony are free and open-to-the-public.
