Adam Snow, one of the career scoring leaders on the Cooper boys’ soccer team, has accepted a scholarship offer from the University of Evansville in Indiana.

Snow said the Evansville coaches began recruiting him two years ago after seeing him play in national tournaments with the Kings Hammer Academy club team.

“I really liked the campus when I visited there and I loved the coach,” he said. “It just was a good fit for me, academically as well.”

Evansville competes on the NCAA Division I level as a member of the Missouri Valley Conference. Last year, the Aces finished 3-13 in Marshall Ray’s first season as head coach. The team opened the 2016 season on the road with a 3-1 loss to Xavier last Friday and a 2-0 win over Northern Kentucky University on Sunday.

Snow said he was recruited as a striker, the same position he plays for Cooper. Last year, he had 29 goals and 13 assists for the Jaguars and was named second-team all-state. He has three goals and one assist in the team’s first four games this season.

The senior said he has a shot at breaking the Cooper team record for most career goals this season. He’s also on the watch list of players to be selected for the High School All-American Games on Dec. 3 in Raleigh, N.C.

Snow would like to end his high school career in the Kentucky state playoffs. Last year, Cooper made it to the 9th Region semifinals and lost to the Covington Catholic team that went on to win the state championship.

“We didn’t really lose that much (from last year) and I think we’re looking pretty strong at the beginning of the season now,” Snow said of the Cooper team. “I think we’ll have a really good shot (in the playoffs) at the end of this year.”
