United Way of Greater Cincinnati’s campaign has entered its final week. The campaign, which ends Friday, October 28, has nearly 75 percent of the $62.1 million goal reported at this point.
Many campaigns are still in progress and leaders stress the importance of every gift. “I’m humbled by the generous support of so many companies, organizations and people who have already pledged to the campaign,” says campaign chair Ted Torbeck, who is the chief executive officer of Cincinnati Bell.
“With just days remaining, the time to give is now. Every dollar counts in United Way’s fight to improve the education, financial stability and health of every person in our community.”

At this Friday’s Campaign Finale, attendees will hear from a few of the many people whose lives have changed thanks to United Way.
Big Brother Terence Daniels and his Little Brother Terrell were matched through Big Brothers Big Sisters of Greater Cincinnati seven years ago. Their relationship is a close one, featuring multiple inside jokes and occasionally finishing each other’s sentences. Terence was a Little Brother growing up and became a Big because he could relate to a young person growing up in difficult circumstances.
Debbie dreamed of going to college. She was not about to let challenges, including a battle with cancer, stop her from doing so. She found the perfect partner for her and daughter Syann’s journey when she moved into the Northern Kentucky Scholar House at Brighton Center.
It is through the generous support of United Way that Terrell has someone he can call a mentor and a brother in Terence, and Debbie found the resources to help her reach her goals for herself and Syann. And it’s why campaign leaders believe every last donation matters..
The dollars raised will fund programs and initiatives that prepare children for kindergarten, home visiting programs that help parents give their young children a positive start in life, and career pathway programs to help unemployed or under-employed individuals obtain in-demand jobs, among others.
