NKU Board of Regents approves 2015-16 tuition and new secondary, music education degree programs

The Northern Kentucky University Board of Regents approved the schedule of 2015-16 tuition and fee rates, in accordance with the Council on Postsecondary Education’s tuition-setting policy and guidelines.
 
NKU tuition for resident undergraduate students will increase by $11 (3.12 percent) per credit hour, with an increase of $132 in the full-time semester rate. The full-time resident undergraduate rate for 2015-16 will be $4,368.
 
The semester rate increase for nonresident undergraduates is $264 and is in accordance with a CPE policy stating that nonresident students should pay at least two times the resident undergraduate tuition rate. The proposed per-credit-hour rate increase for resident graduate students is $18 (3.08 percent). Chase College of Law resident tuition rates will increase $20 per credit hour (3.05 percent); the full-time resident rate for Chase next year will be $8,788 per semester.
 
In other action, the NKU Board approved a B.A. in Secondary Education degree and a Bachelor of Music Education.
 
The B.A. in Secondary Education program will enable students to earn a dual major concurrently – one in their selected content area in the NKU College of Arts and Sciences and a secondary education major in the College of Education and Human Services. The program will be housed in the Department of Teacher Education. The Bachelor of Music Education will similarly be earned concurrently with a content major.
