Summer is over, but the music continues at Boone County Public Library branches with a schedule of performances that extend into the new year.
Saxophone artist Rusty Bird performs a music ministry of solo saxophone playing praise and worship.

The schedule kicks off with an exciting, powerful and refreshing sound to praise and worship music by Saxophone Artist Rusty Bird at Boone County Main Library, 1786 Burlington Pike in Burlington on Friday, November 11 at 7 p.m.
Bird has been playing for over 40 years and is also a soloist performer with the local band Bluestone Ivory. In honor of Veteran’s Day, he will also perform some patriotic tunes.
Bird’s music career began at the age of seven, with piano lessons, and lasted on through his high school concerts, marching band and pep years. He played until college when he took a brief hiatus before auditioning and enlisting in the US Army Band program.
After six intensive months of training at the School of Music in Norfolk, Virginia, Bird was assigned to the 113th Army Band in Ft. Knox, KY. With the 113th for the next three years, he traveled five states performing with the concert, jazz, marching, dixieland and rock bands.
He has played the National Anthem for the Kentucky Derby five times in addition to playing for two presidents. In 1980, after his enlistment, he moved back home to Northern Kentucky and joined the 100th Division Army Reserve Band in Hebron, KY and started his career in engineering. Bird continues to shares his talents with church audiences, weddings, retirement centers, benefits and many other events.

This group, made up of your friends and neighbors, sings a variety of music. The four-part harmony chorus has a repertoire of show tunes, religious, classical, popular and patriotic works.
