FRIDAY, JANUARY 27
DELANTERA loves this track. She came back after a six month layoff to win back to back races in impressive fashion and is capable of extending that streak with Mojica aboard for Doug Danner. TUPELO TIDE also runs very well on the Turfway strip. She was third against a tougher field last out in Tampa and is definitely the one to beat. HERONETTA figures best of the rest.
RACE 2
NATIONAL DEFENCE is a versatile runner who seems to handle any type of surface. He was third last out against a much tougher field and rates the edge in a tough starter allowance race. COZY KITTEN is a nine year old veteran who comes off of a decent try on the Tampa turf and was third behind the top pick here in December. He will be running at the end and his best makes him dangerous. WOELF DEN has the speed to be a contender.
RACE 3
BULLZABOY didn’t fire last out but a return to his best form could be good enough to win this one with Albin Jimenez back aboard tonight. TATTAGLIA has been off since July but drops in class for his return and figures to be dangerous. SOULADAR has to be considered.
RACE 4
INSIST drops in class after two solid efforts against better. She looks like a good bet to win this one with Quinonez back aboard for Ben Colebrook. MAXINE has finished right behind the top pick in both of those races and is definitely the main competition again tonight. ITSALLBOUTTHATBASE threw in a clunker last out but is capable of better.
RACE 5
CHILLIING KITTEN was well bet in her debut at Keeneland but didn’t break sharply in that one and was never in contention. She has been training steadily here at Turfway for Mike Maker and can be expected to run much better on the class drop. TENACIOUS SALLY just missed at this level last out and figures to be the one to beat. PROMISE ME SNOW fits in here.
RACE 6
ROUS figures to be coming off of the pace in a race that has plenty of early speed. He rates a slight edge in what looks like a very well matched bottom claimer. THANKLESS was a beaten favorite last out but ran well to finish second and has to be respected from the barn of Eduardo Caramori with Jimenez back aboard tonight. W W ORIENT is a shipper from Hawthorne who could be dangerous.
RACE 7
SHE’S LOVELY just missed in her Turfway debut and has the speed to be on or near the lead from the inside post tonight. She appears to be in a good spot to pick up the win for David Rider with Lezcano in the saddle. ALL THAT FOR THAT drew off to an impressive score in her last race and a repeat of that performance would make her tough to beat. STRUMMING hasn’t won in a long time but is capable of a solid effort.
RACE 8
ATRUEVISION comes off of a couple of decent efforts and rates a slight edge in this bottom claimer with Jimenez back aboard tonight. SUITS MY FANCY narrowly beat the top pick but has just one win in thirty four career races. ADIRONDACK LUCK figures to be the favorite but the lack of any published works and the big class drop are reasons for concern.
RACE 9
ONE BUCK ROMA broke a long losing streak with a solid win last out. A repeat of that performance should make him a winner again tonight with Alonso Quinonez in the irons. TWO IF BY SEA was a game winner when dropped to his level last out. He will be running at the end and figures to be tough to beat with McKee back aboard. ICE CREAM TRUCK doesn’t like to win but can’t be left out of the gimmicks.
