Obituary For Albert Henry Rouse, Jr.

Albert Henry Rouse Jr., age 92, of Florence, Kentucky, died Friday, March 13, 2026 at St. Elizabeth Healthcare Hospice in Edgewood, Kentucky. He was born on April 12, 1933, in Limaburg, Kentucky to Albert Henry Sr. and Luella (Tanner) Rouse, the youngest of their 6 children.

Affectionately called Mousie or Little Mousie by his family and friends, Albert enlisted in the Coast Guard after graduating from Burlington High School. During his time in service, he married Helen (Eggleston) and they enjoyed 65 rich and caring years together.

He attended Eastern Kentucky University and eventually earned a Masters Degree in Education from the University of Kentucky. He worked as a guidance counselor for Cincinnati Public Schools, and ended his career as their Director of Testing and Evaluation.

In retirement, Albert milked cows, sang in choirs, delivered papers and went antiquing with Helen. He was an expert gardener and nature lover.

Albert was preceded in death by his wife, Helen, his father and mother, his brothers Harold Dudley, Elmer Clayton, Robert Oakley and his twin sisters, Imogene (Regenbogen) and Pauline (Goodridge).

He is survived by two daughters, Jan (David) Connell and Jacqueline (Don) Ahlman; grandchildren Chelsea Baylen (Patrick King), Elizabeth Baylen (Rick) Loomis, Laura Tompkins (Justin Carroll), Lisa Tompkins (Tyler Rice), and Mary Kate Tompkins (Loren Brook); great- grandchildren Casey Loomis, Sarah King, Henry and Albie Rice, and Oscar Brook; and numerous nieces and nephews.

A celebration of his life will be held on Sunday, April 19, 2026 from 1-3 pm at the Burlington Baptist Church Multipurpose Building, 3031 Washington Street, Burlington, Ky 41005.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St. Elizabeth Foundation, c/o Hospice, 1 Medical Village Drive, Edgewood, Ky 41017.
