Obituary For Anna Lee Gosney

Anna Lee Gosney (Burns) of Independence, Ky passed away peacefully surrounded by her children and grandchildren on Tuesday March 3, 2026.

She was born on September 3, 1938 to the late Emil and Alma (Heidemann) Burns in Dayton, Ky. She was preceded in her death by her husband Jon Gosney, daughter Jennifer Holcombe Brookbank and sister Alma Jean Wadella.

Anna worked at the US Post Office as a letter carrier and postmaster and retired after serving as the Secretary to the Postmaster of Cincinnati. She was previously employed by Mutual Insurance and William T Earl companies.

She loved crossword puzzles and books and took great pleasure in talking about and recommending books.

Anna is survived by her children Joanna Maehren, Eric Brookbank, Theodore (Melody) Brookbank , Catherine (Mike) Leopold, stepchildren Todd, Troy, Tony and Tricia Gosney. as well as numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, nephews and nieces.

Funeral service will be held at 1:00 pm Sunday, March 15, 2026, at St. Paul Episcopal Church in Newport with a Celebration of Life following in the Reception Hall.

Memorial contributions may be made to St. Paul Episcopal Church, Newport, Ky.
