Obituary For Anthony Joseph Howard

Anthony (Tony) Joseph Howard, 81, of Burlington, KY, passed away on March 13, 2024, surrounded by loved ones. He left behind a legacy of love, hard work, and cherished memories.

A loving husband, father, and grandfather, he is survived by his wife of 17 years, Lynda; his sister Mary Schenkenfelder; four daughters Cathy, Anne (Chris), Susan (Rob), and Becky (Blake). He was known as Papa Tony to his seven grandchildren, Ethan Howard-Rich, Emilia and Jane Vierling, Luke and Grant Lutz, and Avery and Quinn Sabo.

He is preceded in death by his parents and brother-in-law.

Born in Louisville, KY, on April 5, 1942, Tony developed a strong work ethic that defined his life. He was a volunteer firefighter at Camp Taylor Fire Department in Louisville, KY for 18 years, six of those as assistant chief. He spent six years serving his nation in the Army Reserves. He went on to excel as a project manager, designing and managing material handling projects until his retirement in 2007.

Outside of his career, Tony was an avid traveler. One of his greatest passions was taking road trips throughout the nation, visiting all 50 states. He enjoyed capturing the beauty of the country with his eye for photography.

Tony devoted many hours to woodworking, a hobby that allowed him to use his creativity and math skills. He handcrafted many heirlooms that his family will cherish for years to come. While he was always building something, his favorite project was being a proud father to his four daughters.

Tony will be deeply missed by his family and friends, who will remember and cherish his hearty laugh and sense of humor.

Visitation will be held at Linnemann Funeral Homes and Cremation Center in Burlington on April 5 from 6 to 8pm. Visitation will be held in Louisville the following day at St. Raphael Parish (St. Raphael room in building next to church) from 12-2pm. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to Housing Opportunities of Northern Kentucky, 502 Fry Street, Covington, KY. 41011, or the American Cancer Society, P.O. Box 42040, Oklahoma City, OK. 73123-3000.
