Obituary For Austin "Tuff" Humphrey
Austin Wayne “Tuff” Humphrey, 63, of Jeffersontown, Kentucky, passed away unexpectedly at his home on June 27, 2026.
Born on November 17, 1962, Austin appreciated the simple things in life. He loved Duke basketball, feeding the birds and squirrels outside his home, and spending his days with his beloved dogs, Charlie, Poppy, Itsy, and Bella. Anyone who knew Austin knew how much animals meant to him. Caring for them wasn’t just something he enjoyed—it was simply part of who he was. Those closest to him will remember his quick wit, his generous spirit, and the quiet kindness he showed in his own way.
Austin is survived by his sister, Riochelle Pruitt and her husband, Daniel; his brother, Jamie Humphrey and his wife, Danielle; his niece, Tisha; many beloved nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews; and his cherished Louisville family: Carol Pike; Kim and Chris Wiseman; and his beloved grandson, Ryan Wiseman.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Marilyn and Aust Humphrey; his brother, Joey Humphrey; and his faithful companion, Chewy.
Austin lived life on his own terms and found happiness in the people, places, and animals that meant the most to him. His love for animals, his genuine heart, and the quiet way he cared for those around him left a lasting impression on those fortunate enough to know him. His memory will be treasured, and he will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
Friends and family will gather to share memories, find solace in one another's company, and honor Austin on Saturday, July 4, 2026, from 11:00 AM until 1:00 PM at Chambers and Grubbs Funeral Home, 11382 Madison Pike, Independence, KY, 41051. Following the visitation, cremation will take place in accordance with Austin's wishes.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made to a local animal shelter of the donor's choice in Austin’s memory.
