Obituary For Betty Godby

Betty Godby, née Shores, 84, of Elsmere, passed away peacefully on Saturday, August 1, 2026, at Villa Springs Care Center, Erlanger, KY. Born on July 9, 1942, in Covington, KY.

Betty lived a full and meaningful life rooted in devotion to family, faith, and hard work.

Betty’s early years in Covington laid the groundwork for a lifetime of compassion and steadfast values. She was the cherished daughter of Thomas and Lilly Shores, both of whom preceded her in death.

Professionally, Betty contributed her talents as a Data Transcriber with Kruse Hardware in Cincinnati, Ohio. Her attention to detail and diligent work ethic earned her respect and admiration among her colleagues. She took pride in her work and formed lasting friendships during her career.

A woman of deep faith, Betty was a dedicated member of the First Baptist Church in Ludlow, Kentucky. Her commitment to her church community was evident through her regular attendance, involvement, and kindness to all who knew her. Betty’s faith was the foundation of her strength and served as a guiding light throughout her life.

Betty is survived by her sister, Linda Frank of Elsmere, KY; brother, Andrew Shores; Caring Mother figure and Grandmother to; Mark Godby of Cincinnati, Ohio, Paul (Sandy) Godby West Chester, OH, Jeffrey (Kristine) Godby of Montgomery, AL, Michele (Jim) Peterson-Conrad of Winchester, KY, Cynthia Dean Hamilton, OH, and Angela (late Marco) Aiello of Middletown, OH; many grand-children, great-grand-children and great-great grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Gilbert Godby; Pamela Godby; grandchildren, Chris Godby and Max Gumm; sisters, Vera Ann Wimsatt, Dorothy Shores; brothers, Charles and David Shores.

Visitation will be on Tuesday, 4 August, 2026, from 11:30 AM until the hour of Service at 12:30 PM at Ronald B. Jones Funeral Home, 316 Elm St, Ludlow, KY.

Betty will be laid to rest at Floral Hills Memorial Gardens, 336 Old Taylor Mill Rd, Taylor Mill, KY.

Those who knew Betty Godby will forever cherish her enduring kindness, unwavering faith, and the love she so generously shared. Her memory will remain an inspiration to her family and all whose lives she touched.
