Carl Leslie Howard, 84 years of age, of Florence, entered into rest on Thursday, May 16, 2024. Carl was born in Pineville, Kentucky to the late Stonewall and Anna Mae Howard. He leaves behind his loving wife of 63 years, Elizabeth Howard; daughter, Leslie Howard Berkley and son, Lance Howard (Monica). Carl was the proud grandfather of Carlise South van der Marel (Lars), William Henry Berkley, Ann Catherine Berkley and Patrick Carl Joseph Howard and great grandfather to Fenna South van der Marel. He is preceded in death by his brothers, Ralph, Jimmy, Junior, James, George, Ronnie, Orbin and Maurice. As a retired teacher, coach and Director of Transportation for the Boone County Schools Carl was dedicated to serving the youth of Boone County. He was also a former City Council member and an elder at Florence Christian Church. Above all Carl will be remembered for his great love of family. Visitation will be held on Thursday, May 23, 2024, from 11 a.m. until the time of service at 1 p.m. at Florence Christian Church, 300 Main Street, Florence, KY 41042. Burial will immediately follow at Burlington Cemetery. Memorial donations can be made in Carl’s memory to the Eastern Kentucky Football Program, 521 Lancaster Avenue, Richmond, KY 40475.
